Surf's Up for an Adventurous Seal
A surprising, yet welcome guest two surfers, Matt Stanley and Andrew Flounders, in Northumberland, England. A young seal swam up and got on board with the duo and stayed with them for almost an hour.
While he wasn't as much of an expert as his human counterparts, the friendly mammal certainly tried his best to keep up with the pros. Stanley the BBC, "It kept sliding off, but every time you caught a wave it would surf in on the white water." The seal even followed the surfers to the shore once they were done for the day.
The seal did not appear injured, but Flounders called the local marine wildlife center just in case. Though he certainly seemed to be having a great time, a spokesman for the local seal sanctuary advised people not to touch seals. The Cornish Seal Sanctuary has surfboards that seals enjoy lying on, so when they need their "cowabunga" fix, they have a safe solution.
